What We Do
At the Albuquerque Sign Language Academy, we are reinventing deaf education for the 21st century. Children who are deaf, hard-of-hearing, or who need American Sign Language to navigate their world deserve a future full of possibility. Learning from other models of deaf education, the ASLA is driven to reduce feelings of isolation that stem from separating children from their families and the broader community.
ASLA is the nation’s first and only state-certified ASL/English dual-language school. We bring deaf, hard-of-hearing, and hearing students together in an inclusive learning community where shared language inspires, unites, and empowers. ALL students acquire the high level language skills they need to succeed in the world, fostering a more inclusive and better connected community.
Our bold, 21st-century curriculum offers all students access to rigorous, individualized academics, support services, and powerful language instruction in both English and ASL. By centering inclusion and connection in everything we do, from curriculum to community building, we are reimagining what deaf education can be and creating one united community where all children can build a sense of belonging and a fulfilling future.
